After months of speculation, Warner Bros. finally announced today that Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard will be joining The Dark Knight Rises.
The studio said that Gordon-Levitt will be playing John Blake, a Gotham City beat cop on special assignment under Commissioner Gordon (Played by Gary Oldman). Cotillard will be playing the role of Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises board member who will work alongside Christian Bale‘s Bruce Wayne in helping him resume his deceased father’s charitable endeavors.
The two stars will be reuniting with their Inception director, Christopher Nolan and co-star Tom Hardy, who will be portraying the villain Bane.
On a side note, it was also recently announced that Josh Pence, who served as a body double in playing the Winklevoss twins with Armie Hammer in The Social Network, will be playing a young Ra’s al Ghul (The character played by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins).
The Dark Knight Rises, which will be shooting partially in Pittsburgh amongst other locations, is looking to start production this May and will be released on July 20, 2012.
I can’t wait to see this!
